Galaxy Z Flip: First Impressions Of The New Samsung Folding

Galaxy Z Flip – First Impression

After a criticized GalaxyFold, Galaxy Z Flip despite having a second review after the negative comments received by its screen. Samsung made official what could consider its second folding phone, the Galaxy Z Flip. Whose availability schedule as of February 14, 2020.

Features

Design of Galaxy Z Flip

The first thing that stands out is that the Galaxy Z Flip feels very light (183 grams). It is not like other high-end cell phones that gain weight for their complex camera system, battery. And other latest-generation specifications.

It is a very compact device that fits in the palm of your hand and any pocket. Of course, with a mirror effect finish, the fingerprints are immediately marked when taking it, as it was also seen live in its presentation on February 11.

When the phone is open, its Infinity Flex display, designed with “the first folding glass in its class,” according to the brand, reaches a size of 6.7 inches.

It is a Dynamic AMOLED screen, which is better than Super AMOLED, and the colors it displays are sharp and accurate. Although in this first approach, it was not possible to play content from YouTube and Netflix. In the middle of the screen, the fold is visible and even to the touch, but it is not visually disturbing

Performance and Battery of Galaxy Z Flip

In our short test, we didn’t notice any performance issues, and the phone responded well when opening and running apps. Inside, it carries an eight-core processor, 8GB RAM, and 256GB storage.

It will notice if its 3,300 mAh battery, compatible with fast charge, is sufficient for a full day, or it will be necessary to charge it part-time.

At first glance, it is an improved cell phone in terms of design, and that could respond well to the different demands for productivity and entertainment of users.

Like most of the equipment in its class, it is not a cheap smartphone: it costs 1,380 dollars.

Flex Mode of Galaxy Z Flip

Galaxy Z Flip brings something never seen on a mobile, and which Samsung calls Flex mode. It is activated by putting the phone half-open (between 90 and 130 degrees) and allows multitasking since it divides the interior screen into two halves.

Right now, it only configures with some applications, among them the camera. So when you put it in this position, the upper part of the screen shows what the photo camera captures, and the lower part uses to press the photo camera’s virtual buttons.

Selfies with the Main Camera of Galaxy Z Flip

The new phone’s screen is interrupted by a circle-shaped notch, where its 10-megapixel front camera is attached. The main camera is dual (12 megapixels), and next to it stands out a small 1.1-inch Super AMOLED panel. Which allows you to see notifications of all kinds when the Galaxy Z Flip is closed.

This tiny display reserves for the Always-on display function, which shows the time, date, and battery status. It also allows you to swipe to control music playback and view notifications. In this last use, when you select, for example, a WhatsApp message, when you open it, you access this application directly on the big screen.

Also, from that small screen, you can answer or reject calls. It seems to us a good solution to not need to be opening the smartphone at all times.
